Facing center, stand with feet shoulder width apart, knees bent, toes forward to slightly in, pelvis cocked forward. Hold hilt of sword at waist level, tip of sword at eyelevel staring at the point in line with the center of a circle.

Mind Technique:

As above, so below. The sword person is the lightning rod connecting heaven and earth.

Hand Technique:

Reverse sword grip with the aid of opposite hand, pass behind back, hand over to other hand to return grip to original. Hold sword overhead.

Body Technique:

Helically support sword's motion path around behind the back and up into lightning rod position. Then hold perfectly still and straight with swordhand up, point empty hand down to the ground with two fingers holding arm at a slight angle away from the body (22.5 degrees).

Transition:

Ground energy by inverting sword with the help of empty hand, while going down on one knee and pointing the tip toward the earth.
